Salon Woes....

So the salon I have been working at got sold. The new owners already own another salon here in Logan so they thought, hey we will close down the Salon Essentials location (mine) and move everyone over to ours (Hair Studio 170). They thought, we will have enough room for everyone (some 20 plus stylists) to be able to have them still work their original days. So I thought, okay this will be a pain, but they are trying to make everything all fine and dandy for everyone. So last night I got all my stuff that I had packed up, put it in my car and drove over to the new salon to move it all in. So I get there and they are like, oh, so when are you working again? I was thinking are you kidding me? I have told you tonz of times, I work Saturdays and I want to start on commission here for a while, heck I even filled out their stupid little paper that told them what days I want to work and whether or not I wanted to do booth rent or commission. So, I told them AGAIN.
On Saturday they had moved over our cabinets that we used to store all of color and products like that, so that we would have a place for them when we moved. So I asked where they were and he was like, "oh, yeah, we should get one for you (mind you there were like 5 empty ones), so he goes in the room where they are and looks around and then says well, lets see, I think you can use this one...". It is the most inconvenient one, it is behind the door... Why???? But I was like whatever, I'll take it. So then I asked which station would be mine and he paused and hesitated and proceeded to tell me... "well, see we are really busy on Saturdays and all of our stations are full, so we are just going to have you station hop".... I'm thinking WHAT????? Then he said "we might be able to scrounge up a couple of drawers for you in one of the stations that you can put some stuff in..." So, what, every time I need something I have to run across the salon and get it out of the drawer they had to "find" for me? What happens if I have an appointment and all the stations are full, do I just take my client out to the parking lot and say sorry, they don't have room for us so lets cut your hair out here, NO, that is ridiculous! So I had to completely reorganize my rollabout so that I can fit all of my styling products and everything I need, I had to shove other things that I should have on the station into my color cabinet because, I don't have a station. So needless to say, I am really angry and I will probably be looking for another job in the near future, which is too bad because I really liked all the girls I worked with at Salon Essentials, and everyone is moving over to Hair Studio 170. So that is my vent session... Hope your day is going good!

The nasty, make me want to die rat lab.... Almost Done!!

See Fred, see Fred be a stupid rat. See Fred sit for 7 whole days and not pass off the stupid 4th task. See Fred all of a sudden decide that he wants to do something and pass of 3 tasks in one day.


See Rachel, see Rachel being super happy that she only has 2 more days of the rat lab. See Rachel miraculously still alive. See Rachel semi over come one of her biggest fears (only semi cuz she will look at it but won't touch it).

Many wonder what will happen to this ugly little, beady eyed creature. Well since he "volunteered" for the job of being a lab rat he is guaranteed a "humane" death, hence the reason they don't let people take them home. Because you know, someone's cat might eat it or something. Anyways, before his death Fred will have a little more work to do. He will be used to test the effects of Alcohol, Cocaine, and Meth.... yes you read right... I wonder what he will be like then, good thing I don't like him!

Thursday is my last day in the lab and I am SO EXCITED!!!! I made it!!!

The nasty, make me want to die rat lab, Days 2 & 3

So days two and three have passed now, I still don't like it. So Fred, the rat, is kind of stupid. He doesn't want to do the things that he is supposed to and just sits there and looks at us. BLAH. We don't like him that much. We are trying to get him to press a bar and he just won't do it. We think he is a pretty boy because he spends most of his time cleaning himself, seriously how many times can you do that in an hour. Hopefully he will pass of the second task tomorrow... he is the only one who hasn't. We want to exchange him for a new rat...

The nasty, make me want to die rat lab, Day #1

So today was the first day of the dreaded rat lab. My rat is a nasty little albino rat with beady red eyes and a long nasty pink tail. Luckily, I have a really nice lab partner who will actually do all the handling of the rat.... So we brought the rat out and I got all lightheaded and dizzy and wanted to faint.... yeah that would have been embarrassing. Today we had to train him, or Fred the Death Creature, to respond to a sound signaling the availability of water. Yeah, Fred wasn't that smart... hopefully he will catch on tomorrow... All in all, I still HATE rats, and I am dreading the next 3 weeks...

So I am in a behavioral psychology class.... while in this class we have to train a rat... one of those nasty little white lab rats with the beady red eyes. This is the first time I have considered attending another University besides USU because of this lab... At SUU they get to train pigeons, not nearly as bad. I am absolutely TERRIFIED thats right TERRIFIED of rats. I honestly don't know how I am going to make it through this lab. I would drop the class, but I have to have it for my major, yikes. I am so scared of rats that I even had a hard time putting the picture on here cuz I would have to look at it and believe me I did as much as I could with out actually looking at the picture. So I am going to try and blog about my experiene with the dreaded creature, that is if I live to tell about it. I really might pass out, hit my head, get bit and get a disease, and then die.... lets hope not... I can only hope that my lab partner will be kind enough not to make me touch it. So lets all pray that I make it through this experience.....

And that is what I did. I am in school again at Utah State and not necessarily loving it. Oh well. I got my hair cut and I kinda hate it and in the next couple of weeks I will have to train a rat... YIKES!!! I hate rats..... More to come....
